In September 1989, PLT
College started as PLT Computer and Technical Services. Barely nine months
after, it was granted by the Department of Education Culture and Sports (DECS)
permit to operate as a school and was named PLT Computer and Technical
The prime courses offered then
were the Two-Year Management Information System Analysis and Design (MISAD,
and the Computer Operations Specialist Course (COSC).
Gradually, the course offering
widened to Two-Year Software Development Course (SDC-June 1991), One-Year
Computer Repair and Maintenance (CRM-June 1991) and Two-Year Executive
Computer Secretarial Course (October 1991). After a year, the school was
granted by the DECS to operate as a college.
The College was duly
registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in October
Started as a
"one-room-all-in-one," PLT College has now developed to be one of the
well-equipped Computer College in the region. It has now four buildings:
the four-storey annex building which houses its modern equipment and
facilities, chemistry, crime laboratory, computer laboratories, the
library and Administration Office; the PLT College main building with a
mini gymnasium located at the building's fourth floor; the Hotel and
Restaurant Management building; and the Commerce Secretarial department
PLT College as an institution
of learning directs to provide quality computer education aimed towards
the services and growth of humanity in a progressing society with a
commitment to and concern for academic excellence.
To justify its claim in this
noble task of nation building, the College seeks to establish an effective
system of education and to reach out to the local educational needs of the
people within their own socio-cultural background and environs.
